The Shield Also Known as Three Beyoncés

The Shield were WWE’s latest Table for 3. During that time they discussed their careers and how they were successful both as individuals and as a unit. They called themselves, the three Beyoncé’s. So for fun, let’s match them up with which variation of Beyonce.

Roman Reigns - Beyonce 2016

In 2016, Beyonce was truly the biggest star in the entertainment industry. As we look back at each Shield member, Roman is the biggest star with the most crossover appeal. Just like Beyonce, Roman has his fans and his fair share of haters. While he doesn’t have a hive right now, he is still the biggest star of The Shield.

Dean Ambrose - Beyonce 1999

Remember when Destiny Child first came on the scene? We all knew that Beyonce was the star. This is why Dean Ambrose compares to her. His independent following deemed him the biggest star. He was also the first to earn a singles match with the Undertaker and more importantly the first to win singles gold.

Seth Rollins - Beyonce 2003

Remember when Beyonce broke out of Destiny’s Child and released Crazy in Love? Reminds me of how Seth Rollins hit Roman in the back with the chair and later cashed in his Money in the Bank Contract to win the WWE Championship. Rollins simply made you respect him as a breakout star from the Shield.

Just like Beyonce, The Shield have all found success in similar ways with different paths.

Detroit, Philadelphia, or New York, Who Will Host WrestleMania 35

We know WrestleMania 34 will be in New Orleans, Louisana, but now the question is, who will host WrestleMania 35. The rumored front runners are, Detroit, New York Or Philadelphia. All three of these cities have hosted the biggest event in sports entertainment before, so let’s look at what happened when the event was in those places.

Detroit
WrestleMania III, WrestleMania 23

The Motor City was the Home of one of WWE’s most epic main events ever. WrestleMania III was the Irresistible Force vs the Immovable Object as Hulk Hogan successfully defended his WWE Title against André the Giant. That event set a record for the largest indoor record attendance with over 93,000 people. The event would return 20 years later as John Cena successfully defends his WWE Title against Shawn Michaels.

Detroit is the rumored front runner for WrestleMania 35. With this track record, we know WWE will bring it and pay homage to the previous WrestleManias held there. Aretha Franklin anyone?

New York
WrestleMania, WrestleMania X, WrestleMania XX, WrestleMania 29*

New York has always been considered home for the WWE. During the territory days, it was where Vince McMahon Sr. ran his promotion. For Vince Jr., it was the place where he put everything he had on the line to create what would be known as the biggest yearly event in sports entertainment, WrestleMania. WrestleMania I brought two worlds together, Rock-N-Roll music and wrestling. In the main event, we saw Hulk Hogan and Mr. T defeat Paul Orndorf and Roddy Piper.

WrestleMania X was the true beginning of the New Generation Era. That night we saw Bret Hart defeat Yokozuna to win his 2nd WWE Championship. But the night was stolen by Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon who put on an incredible ladder match that served as the standard for years to come.

WrestleMania XX, where it all begins again. On the 20th anniversary of WrestleMania we saw Chris Benoit defeat Triple H and Shawn Michaels to finally win the World Heavyweight Championship. Eddie Guerrero defeated Kurt Angle to retain the WWE Title and the two shared a we made it moment in the ring. Due to circumstances surrounding Benoit’s death, we will never see that footage on WWE programing again (unless you have the network).

I put an asterisk behind WrestleMania 29 because while the event was held in New Jersey (like Mania IV & V), the Events surrounded by it was held in New York. It was booked at New York-New Jersey. So we have to respect it in a sense of talking about host cities. On this night, we saw John Cena get his revenge on The Rock as he defeated him to win the WWE Title.

You can never go wrong with the New York City. The question is, will they put this Mania back in Jersey, or perhaps would they have it in Yankee stadium. That’s never been done before. Remember, anything can happen in the WWE.

Philadelphia
WrestleMania XV

The city of Brotherly Love was the Home of the first of a triology of matches between The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin. This also took place at the height of the Attitude Era. Austin defeated The Rock after months of trying to get his belt back.

WrestleMania was big in 1999, but not to the point that stadiums were a must. It would be nice to see Philadelphia host WrestleMania in 2019, and I would have to guess that Lincoln Financial Field would be the place where it would be held.

AJ Styles Deserves the Main Event of WrestleMania

There have been many wrestlers or as they say, superstars who have come and gone in World Wrestling Entertainment. There has been no one to carry the ball the way John Cena has. More than a decade on top, Cena has been any promoters dream and Vince McMahon's reality. However, there is no doubt that the wheels on the bus are starting to get worn. So who is next to grab the brass ring and lead the company into the next generation? That question still reminds, but there is a guy who has been carrying the company while Cena has been gone. His name, AJ Styles.

AJ Styles arrived to the WWE in 2016 at the Royal Rumble and has been must see TV ever since. "This is where I belong." The words he uttered the next night when the WWE Universe first heard him speak before his Raw debut. He proved just that, he belonged in the WWE. Styles went on to have perhaps the best one-on-one match to date with Roman Reigns, he beat up John Cena on more than one occasion, including at SummerSlam. And within 10 months of his WWE debut, AJ Styles was the WWE Champion after defeating Dean Ambrose at Backlash.

Styles went on to have an incredible run until he just came up short, losing the title to John Cena at the Royal Rumble. Styles went on to WrestleMania to open the show against Shane McMahon in a very personal matchup. The two would set the tone to an emotional night that would be known as the Undertaker's last match. Styles would continue to rack up WWE gold, winning the United States Championship from Kevin Owens.

Why does he deserve to main event the grand daddy of them all? Recently the WWE found themselves in a bind when a sickness went through the Raw locker room. This left Finn Balor without an opponent. Who did they call? AJ Styles. Now clearly, everyone on the roster was not in a match, but the WWE went to Mr. dependable. They went to the guy they knew they could trust to give Balor a good match and there would not need to be an explanation. Styles had to get on a plane immediately after his match in Chile and travel to back to the Minneapolis, Minnesota to wrestle at TLC, then he stuck around for Monday Night Raw and then back to Smackdown Live on Tuesday. There is no doubt that the fans enjoyed it. This guy has a proved a track record, therefore it is only right to close the granddaddy of them all WrestleMania 34 with The Phenomenal One, AJ Styles!

WWE, Do Not Let Real Money Walk Out the Door

If you have been following me on Twitter for the past three years, you know that my favorite wrestler of all-time is Daniel Bryan. That title split between Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan for nearly two decades. Then one night, I listened to Bryan join Chris Jericho’s podcast during the height of his popularity. It was then I realized I connected with him more than any other Superstar. It doesn’t help that our first names are both Brian. L

When he announced his retirement from pro wrestling, I would be lying if I told you that I didn’t shed a tear. The same tear I shed when he won the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania XXX. Never in my life had a cried over a victory in wrestling. Yeah I cried when the Baltimore Ravens won Super Bowl XLVII. But in wrestling, naw it’s predetermined. Now as we get closer to the end of his current contract with WWE, we see a lot of talk of him returning to the ring. Great stuff right? Yes and no. It will be great to see him back in the ring, but he will not be Daniel Bryan in the WWE. He will Be Bryan Danielson back on the independent circuit.

Word on the street is the independent circuit is getting set to be hotter than ever. Guys will be able to make more money for less dates and less travel. We all know Daniel Bryan’s passion is wrestling and if he has an opportunity to do what he love, why would he say no?

But what if the WWE does the unthinkable? What if they clear him. Fans including Dave Meltzer tend to think they know everything and they swear by the fact that Vince will not clear him because he does not want to contradict the company doctor. But would he really let all that money out of the door? We saw Bryan rise to new heights leading into WrestleMania XXX. This was the first time in history the fans led the company to change the main event and give us what we wanted. If he leaves and goes back to the independent circuit, there will be so many fans who have never been to an independent show suddenly become fans because they want to see their guy.  Competition is good in any business, after all why do you think the Monday Night Wars were so great? Why do you think Madden football has been a lackluster game over a decade. Everyone needs competition and if Daniel Bryan leaves the WWE, you better believe he is taking his fans with him. The WWE may have trademarked catchphrase YES, but it doesn’t mean they won’t say it when he is going up against the Bullet Club! Don’t get me wrong, I am going watch regardless, but I much rather see Daniel Bryan headlining another WrestleMania

NFL Week 5 Predictions (Current Record 38-24)

Week 4 was another wild week in the NFL. Let's just say it is not safe to assume anything. Cam Newton led the Panthers to a thrilling win over the Patriots in Foxboro, the Bills defeated the defending NFC Champion Falcons, The Rams beat the Cowboys in Jerry's World, and Joe Flacco continues to look lost in the Ravens offense as they are embarrassed by the rival Steelers. Here are my predictions for Week 5

Patriots vs Buccaneers Patriots
Ravens vs Raiders Ravens
Packers vs Cowboys Packers
Bills vs Bengals Bengals
Jets vs Browns  Browns
Panthers vs Lions Panthers
49ers vs Colts Colts
Titans vs Dolphins  Dolphins
Chargers vs Giants  Chargers
Cardinals vs Eagles Cardinals
Jaguars vs Steelers Steelers
Seahawks vs Rams Rams
Chiefs vs Texans Chiefs
Vikings vs Bears Vikings

The Patriots will visit Tampa Bay on a short week after falling to the Panthers. Jameis Winston and the Buccaneers will look to prove they are contenders with a win over the champs. No matter how good they may look, it's hard to see Tom Brady losing in back to back weeks. Jameis Winston has admitted to being star struck, but if he wants to prove that he is on his way to becoming elite, he will need this win over the greatest quarterback of all-time.
But without a doubt, this week's Game of the Week will be the Packers vs Cowboys. Dallas defeated Green Bay last season, but Green Bay got retribution in the playoffs. Dallas is not the team they were last year and Green Bay has been rolling. However, their one loss has come on the road.
