WWE, Do Not Let Real Money Walk Out the Door

If you have been following me on Twitter for the past three years, you know that my favorite wrestler of all-time is Daniel Bryan. That title split between Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan for nearly two decades. Then one night, I listened to Bryan join Chris Jericho’s podcast during the height of his popularity. It was then I realized I connected with him more than any other Superstar. It doesn’t help that our first names are both Brian. L

When he announced his retirement from pro wrestling, I would be lying if I told you that I didn’t shed a tear. The same tear I shed when he won the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania XXX. Never in my life had a cried over a victory in wrestling. Yeah I cried when the Baltimore Ravens won Super Bowl XLVII. But in wrestling, naw it’s predetermined. Now as we get closer to the end of his current contract with WWE, we see a lot of talk of him returning to the ring. Great stuff right? Yes and no. It will be great to see him back in the ring, but he will not be Daniel Bryan in the WWE. He will Be Bryan Danielson back on the independent circuit.

Word on the street is the independent circuit is getting set to be hotter than ever. Guys will be able to make more money for less dates and less travel. We all know Daniel Bryan’s passion is wrestling and if he has an opportunity to do what he love, why would he say no?

But what if the WWE does the unthinkable? What if they clear him. Fans including Dave Meltzer tend to think they know everything and they swear by the fact that Vince will not clear him because he does not want to contradict the company doctor. But would he really let all that money out of the door? We saw Bryan rise to new heights leading into WrestleMania XXX. This was the first time in history the fans led the company to change the main event and give us what we wanted. If he leaves and goes back to the independent circuit, there will be so many fans who have never been to an independent show suddenly become fans because they want to see their guy.  Competition is good in any business, after all why do you think the Monday Night Wars were so great? Why do you think Madden football has been a lackluster game over a decade. Everyone needs competition and if Daniel Bryan leaves the WWE, you better believe he is taking his fans with him. The WWE may have trademarked catchphrase YES, but it doesn’t mean they won’t say it when he is going up against the Bullet Club! Don’t get me wrong, I am going watch regardless, but I much rather see Daniel Bryan headlining another WrestleMania
