Wrestling For The Culture: April 29th

Titus O'Neil Has Greatest Performance at the Greatest Royal Rumble

When everyone thinks of the first ever Greatest Royal Rumble, we may think about Braun Strowman winning, we may think of Roman Reigns falling short to Brock Lesnar...again, but one thing we will remember is Titus O'Neil's entrance. Watch the GIF above, my words can not do it justice. The best part was after he got up, he got in the ring and continued as if nothing happened.

Darren Young Speaks on Finn Balor's WrestleMania 34 entrance

Darren Young spoke with Spandex Podcast and said he was happy with Finn Balor's WrestleMania entrance. Balor entered the ring with members of the LGBT community. However, Young was disappointed that the WWE did not invite him to sit in the crowd nor did they do anything the previous year when they were in Orlando. Orlando was the home where the mass shooting took place at the Pulse Night Club, a club where people of the LGBT community frequent.

“It is what it is, but I cried like a baby. The next day, Monday, after watching it back, I cried like a baby. When I got released, it’s okay. It is what it is; but, when I’ve seen that and I wasn’t invited just to sit in the crowd and see the moves that we’re making, it broke my heart. They know that. They know that; but, it is what it is. Life goes on. Finn’s a great guy; but, to not be invited to such a amazing celebration among the LGBT community, it just broke my heart. Even to just be on the stage with everyone like rah rah. I don’t care. I just want to be able to experience it. It means the world to me.”

Naomi Breaks The Internet

Naomi has been standing by her man lately. The Usos have been getting destroyed by The Bludgeon Brothers. But on Smackdown, Jimmy Uso was able to get a victory after Naomi added a little distraction. Check out my latest where I discuss why she and Jimmy are the most successful couple in WWE today.

Cedric Alexander is Mr. Dropkick

You better put some respect on Cedric's name. Here is letting everyone know that he has the best dropkick in the business.

Are Naomi and Jimmy Uso the Most Successful Couple in WWE without the Last Name McMahon?

Behind every great man is an even better woman. In the world of pro wrestling, we often see art imitate life. But sometimes, life is just raised to the 10th power. That is the case with Trinity and Jon, also known as Naomi and Jimmy Uso.

The world has been talking about the recent break of John Cena and Nikki Bella. Cena was even asked about it in an interview and he admitted that he is not doing well. But let's not focus on the heartbreak of two real people, instead focus on the love we see displayed every Tuesday.

Recently on Smackdown, The Usos have been getting their butts handed to them by the new Smackdown Live tag team champions, the Bludgeon Brothers. One week it was so bad that Naomi came out running pleading them to stop. If that wasn't enough, Harper posted a cryptic tweet.

The following week, Naomi pleaded Jimmy not to wrestle Rowan.  He ensured her that everything would be ok. But when the match happened, Rowan was destroying Jimmy and then Naomi's music hit and she came out dancing and distracted both Bludgeon Brothers, allowing Jimmy to pick up the win.

If you watch Total Divas, you see that these two are best friends, as any husband and wife should be. Diamond Dallas Page has gone on record saying that Macho Man Randy Savage told him that he should not bring his wife into the locker room. Both men saw their marriages fail during their time in the business. The difference is that Naomi and Jimmy met while they were in NXT. From NXT, fans were privy to seeing their relationship grow all the way to their marriage ceremony on Total Divas.

This past winter, we saw the two participate in the Mixed-Match challenge. The two were eliminated in the Quarterfinals, but their natural chemistry was displayed in both matches. Can you name another couple in WWE history that have both reached the pinnacle of their career paths that are still together and does not have the last name McMahon attached to them?

More than likely Jimmy Uso will never be a singles champion, but that's not a bad thing. After all, he and Jey have said that it has been their lifelong dream to become WWE Tag Team Champions. Remember when it seemed that it would never happen? Now they have won multiple tag titles and have reinvited themselves. How about Naomi? Remember when she was a dancer with Cameron for Brodus Clay? And then there was Team Bad. A time when she could not really gel as a heel. Fast forward and she is a two-time Women's Champion. She's also the first black wrestler to win a singles title at WrestleMania.

So as we look back in history and look at active couples, the answer is yes, Naomi and Jon are the most successful couple in WWE history... without the last name McMahon.
(And do you really count Stephanie and Triple H? Stephanie wasn't a real champion) So that may seem like an asinine statement but think about it. CM Punk and Beth Phoenix are not together anymore. CM Punk and AJ Lee were not on top at the same time. Same with Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella. Therefore, the title goes to Jimmy and Naomi.

Memorable Scenes from Scandal

Scandal is over. Can you believe it? After 7 great seasons, there will be no more popcorn, red wine, tweetstorms, spoilers, and worst of all, no more Oliva Pope. But there are lots of memorable scenes that we can still keep. Here are some that include quotes that we will always be able to apply in our everyday lives.

"You have to be twice as good as them to get half of what they have"

Perhaps the line that every black person should live by. Rowan speaks to Oliva and motivates him the best way any father could.

"I make America great"

On the final episode, Rowan took the stand and let them know, a black man was running the United States the entire time.

"You lost the one person that who felt like family, well grow up because that's how it is."

Olivia Pope talks to Cyrus Beane after his husband was killed.

"They question my authority"

Art imitates life. During a time where the country has been torn over the fact that there are a lot of police killing innocent black men. On this episode, we get a monologue from a cop that echoes how many cops feel today.

"If you want me, earn me!"

No matter how much a woman wants a man, and a man wants a woman, the woman holds all the keys. It's just a matter if she knows it or not. Olivia Pope knew she held the keys.

"You own me... you control me"

Olivia and Fitz never had their happy ending, but Fitz didn't love anyone the way he loved Oliva.

"He needs YOU, Olivia"

Mellie knew that not only Olivia and Fitz were sleeping together, she knew deep down inside Olivia is what Fitz needed, what drove him. And during the time of re-election, she called on Olivia.

"It's handled"

In the first episode of Scandal, Olivia Pope set the tone of what would be the next seven years when she single-handedly helped Fitz avoid a sex scandal.

Ember Moon Raw Singles Debut

Ember Moon was one called up to the main roster the night after WrestleMania 34. She and Nia Jax defeated Alexa Bliss and Mickey James. This past Monday on Raw, Moon made her singles debut where she successfully defeated James.

R-Truth to Smackdown

During the Superstar ShakeUp, R-Truth was sent to the Smackdown Roster. I'm not sure what his role will be there, but I guess Smackdown needed a veteran to get some of the younger guys over.

Naomi is a Ride or Die

If losing their tag team titles at WrestleMania wasn't enough, the Usos were beaten profusely by the new champs, the Bludgeon Brothers. It took Naomi coming to the rescue of her husband Jimmy for the beating to stop.

Ric Flair Joins Offset on Jimmy Fallon Show

There is no doubt that The Nature Boy Ric Flair has influenced a lot of rappers. Recently, Flair joined the rapper Offset on stage at the Jimmy Fallon show where they performed, "Ric Flair Drip."

Recently Sasha Banks, Apollo Crews, and Titus O'Neil met up with WWE Hall of Famer Koko B-Ware. They tweeted about how it was great to get some advice from Ware. Keith Lee lost the PWG Heavyweight Championship this weekend to Walter and the word on the street is that he agreed to a deal with the WWE. WWE Superstar Shake-up

This Monday, there will be a Superstar Shake-Up. That means some superstars will find a new home. My guess is, The New Day will be moving on to Monday Night Raw.

Velveteen Dream Rumors

There are rumors that the Velveteen Dream will be moving to the main roster during the Superstar Shake-Up. You may remember him from Tough Enough 2015. Patrick Clark (he went by his shoot name) was the youngest kid in the house and known for being a lifelong fan of the WWE. On an episode of Monday Night Raw, the cast was introduced and when it was his time, he received a huge pop from the WWE Universe. He has had a solid career in NXT, but now it will be interesting to see if the WWE Universe is ready for the Dream!

Bayley vs. Sasha Banks

Bayley and Sasha Banks have not been seeing eye to eye for a few months now. With the Superstar Shake-Up coming, this could be the last time they get a chance to settle their differences. I would not be surprised to see this main event the show. I really hope neither ladies switch brands, however, if I had to take a guess, from the women's division, I see Bayley and Sonya Deville going to Smackdown and Becky Lynch and Natalya going to Raw.

Naomi Wins Women's WrestleMania Battle Royal

Last year, Naomi won the Smackdown Live Women's Championship. This year she proved she was the best woman in the battle royal that featured women from Raw, Smackdown, and NXT. This was a great moment for Naomi. At WrestleMania 29 her match was cut. At WrestleMania 30, she tapped to AJ Lee, and WrestleMania 32, she was pinned on the preshow.

Cedric Wins the Big One!

Cedric Alexander defeated Mustafa Ali to win the vacant WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Alexander had a title shot secured, but once Enzo Amore got suspended and stripped of the title, there was no match. What a moment for him to finally win the Cruiserweight Championship.
