Don't Trust Velveteen Dream

In their handicap match against Lars Sullivan, Velveteen Dream and Ricochet worked together like a well-oiled machine, until Dream thought Ricochet bumped into him on purpose. That would lead to Dream turning on his partner and allowing him to get pinned by Sullivan. There is no doubt that this will lead to furthering their rival.

Velveteen Dream and Ricochet Have a Common Enemy

Velveteen Dream and Ricochet finally squared off after their confrontation last week. This week fans finally were treated to what started off as a great match. But then, Lars Sullivan interfered. This led to both of them confronting William Regal. Next week on NXT, the two will face Sullivan in a handicap match.

Velveteen Dream Is Not Pleased With Kevin Hart.

Kevin Hart recently dressed similarly to Velveteen Dream (or Koko B. Ware as I thought) in a Mountain Dew Commercial. Dream notices everything and called it a gimmick infringement on Twitter.

Naomi Gets Money In The Bank Qualifying Match

On Twitter, Sonya Deville complained about not qualifying for Money in the Bank despite not being the one to tap out during a triple threat match. Paige announced on Twitter that Deville will take on Naomi on this week's Smackdown Live in a qualifying match. Naomi was the champion during the inaugural Women's Money in the Bank.  After winning the WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal she would love to capitalize on that momentum by winning the briefcase in her quest to regain the Women's Title.

New Day in Money in the Bank

The New Day won their match against the Bar. With this win, they will get to choose WHO is going to participate in Money In The Bank. My pick is Xavier Woods. This could be the catalyst that starts the break up of the team. Rumors are the New Day's merchandise sales are down and powers that be feel that they have are not as popular anymore.

The World Takers Retain Reality fo Wrestling Tag Team Titles

On this week's episode of Reality of Wrestling, The World Takers retain their tag team championship after defeating StarTek.

Ronda Rousey vs. Nia Jax at Money In The Bank

It’s official, Ronda Rousey will challenge Nia Jax for the Raw Women’s Championship. This match was announced at the NBC Upfronts. For those who do not know, In the TV business, an upfront is a gathering at the start of important advertising sales periods, held by television network executives and attended by major advertisers and the media. It is important to note that May is a sweeps months. This is where networks love to put their best product forward.

It is important to remember that WWE is a television show. Part of the reason the Super Bowl was moved to February was due to the fact that it is a sweeps month. The build-up to Money in the Bank will happen through the majority of May. Let's not forget they are competing with the NBA and NHL right now as well. This means we will See a lot of Ronda Rousey on WWE television. I do not expect Nia Jax to win the title, but I believe it is great that she’s in the title match. This also means that a lot of the other girls are in the ladder match. Do we want another match like Naomi vs Lana at last year’s Money in the Bank? Nope.

The Miz Should Win Money In The Bank

In 2010, he won Money in the Bank and cashed in on Randy Orton to win his 1st WWE Championship and went on to successfully main event WrestleMania 27. Nearly eight years later, The Miz is the most must see heel in television.

The Miz held the WWE Intercontinental Championship 8 times for a combined 599 days. Many recognize Chris Jericho as the greatest IC champion in history, but you can easily throw the Miz in that argument. After failing to regain the title at WWE Backlash, The Miz stated that he would be moving on to the WWE Championship by qualifying for Money in the Bank.

Miz said that Money in the Bank is all about strategy and that he holds the power. This could be the very thing that puts him back on the mountain top. On an episode of Table for 3, Miz said that he would love to headline WrestleMania once again it seemed impossible. From 2013-2016, he didn’t seem to be the guy who you would build the show around. Was he a solid midcarder? Sure. But calling him the number one heel in wrestling was a stretch.

Why should he win Money in the Bank? Sometimes the briefcase is used to elevate someone, other times it’s used to get someone get going again. Many may say The Miz doesn’t need it, but considering how the briefcase is used, it would be a perfect fit for the Miz. There was a prediction meme that shows Daniel Bryan winning the WWE Title and The Miz cashes in on him. If you thought the world hated Randy Orton in 2013, you can triple that if The Miz does it considering Bryan’s heroic comeback story.

This year the Money in the Bank should go to The Miz. If they have two briefcases, there is no one else on the Smackdown roster who would benefit from it the way he does. Sure Samoa Joe could, but he has already stated that he is coming for the title. Bryan never got his rematch after vacating the title, and Big Cass still has a long way to go to prove he is more than seven feet tall. Can you imagine The Miz carrying the WWE Championship on every major talk show in 2018? It would be GOLD!!!

Harlem Heat to the Hall of Fame

Congratulations to Harlem Heat, Booker T and Stevie Ray, who were both inducted into the Cauliflower Hall of Fame. Harlem Heat has won Tag Team gold 14 times across different promotions including 10 times in WCW. They were named PWI's Tag Team of the year in 1995 and 1996.

Booker T Speaks on a Hulk Hogan Return

Booker T recently spoke on his show, Heated Conversations about the possibility of Hulk Hogan returning. The 5-time WCW Champion said that he would welcome Hogan back and said that it was Hogan who vouched for him and his brother during their time in WCW.

Jason Jordan Returning Soon

Reports are saying Jason Jordan will be returning to Monday Night Raw this week. It should be noted that Kurt Angle acquired Chad Gable in the Superstar shakeup, but made it very clear that he would not be teaming with Jordan. What will be interesting is if these two are entered in a feud with each other. Jordan could also try to make a run at the Intercontinental Title, considering Seth Rollins is the champion, the guy whom he held the Tag Titles with before getting hurt.

Bianca Belair Continues to Dominate in NXT

Biance Belair had a dominating win over Candice LaRae this past week on NXT and makes you wonder, is she next in line for the NXT Women's Championship?

Roni Nicole Wins Gold

New Day Merchandise No Longer Drawing?

According to reports, the New Day are no longer moving merchandise the way they have before. Of course, this could mean that people are bored with them. So here is the question, can any of these guys become a box office draw by themselves. At one point we believed Big E was the guy. But now after being with The New Day for the past three years, can you see this guy as THE GUY, the WWE Champion? I can't. Unless we see a 180 transition. I believe Xavier Woods has the charisma to carry the mid-card title, but the WWE title, I doubt it.

WWE Backlash Favorite Matches and Moments

WWE Backlash was introduced in 1999 and was often the event where guys and gals got their rematches from WrestleMania. In cases of the traditional WrestleMania double turn, we often saw guys get their revenge. Though it was never recognized as a major PPV, it has always had a prominent place in history. Here are some of my favorite matches and moments.

Backlash 1999 Stone Cold Steve Austin vs The Rock for the WWE Championship

Stone Cold Steve Austin chased the WWE Championship for six months after he was screwed by Vince McMahon. Austin finally regained the title when he defeated The Rock at WrestleMania XV. However, he never got his Smoking Skull Championship Belt. Austin would defend his title against The Rock but there was a special stipulation. Shane McMahon would be the special guest referee. Austin would go on to defeat The Rock and regain his custom-made championship. These two had three classic matches at WrestleMania, but this match at Backlash is what help set the tone of the must-see PPV following WrestleMania.

Backlash 2000 The Rock vs. Triple H for the WWE Championship Match

WrestleMania 2000 could have been one of the best PPVs if The Rock won the Fatal Four Way match to become the new WWE Champion. But nope, Triple H won. (Click here to watch The Wrestling Wrealm's Gimmie The Book, where I rebook this) Shane McMahon was the referee in this match as well, but this time, The Rock would have a special enforcer in his corner, Stone Cold Steve Austin. Triple H had the upper hand because Austin arrived late, which allowed Shane to not play by the rules. In the end, The Rock was able to hit the Rock Bottom and People's Elbow to win the WWE Championship.

Backlash 2003 The Rock vs. Goldberg

After returning from Hollywood, The Rock had a new attitude. He was a movie star and even more arrogant than he was in the Corporation. He defeated Hulk Hogan in their rematch from WrestleMania X-8, and finally defeated Austin at WrestleMania. What else was there for him to do? Suddenly WCW's biggest homegrown star was in the WWE. Goldberg showed up and showed out. He began his WWE career with a huge win over The Rock, sending the Great One back to Hollywood.

Backlash 2008 Triple H vs. Randy Orton vs. JBL vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship Match

This match is special to me because Backlash 2008 was the very first PPV I attended. With Randy Orton retaining the WWE Championship at WrestleMania, Triple H and John Cena were looking for vengeance. I have no idea why JBL was in there. He did not last that long in this elimination match. While Triple H was definitely as a better heel, he did get a huge pop in Baltimore that night.

Backlash 2009 Ricky Steamboat vs. Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho has been one of the most successful wrestlers in history. One reason is that he always finds a way to reinvent himself. In 2009, Jericho was out to prove that he was better than every legend who came before him. At WrestleMania 25, he defeated Ricky Steamboat, Roddy Piper, and Jimmy Snuka. During that match, Steamboat's performance stuck out. Piper and Snuka showed their age, while Steamboat looked like he had gas left in the tank. Becuase of this fans was privy to a one on one match between the two.

Backlash 2009 John Cena vs. Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship

Edge's biggest rival in his career is arguably John Cena. After Cena defeated Edge and Big Show at WrestleMania 25 to win the World Heavyweight Championship, Edge got his rematch at Backlash, this time in a Last Man Standing Match. With help of the Big Show, Edge would regain his World Heavyweight Title.

Backlash 2000 Big Show is The Showster

In the Spring of 2000, Big Show went through a phase where he was just having fun. On this night, he decided to portray Hulk Hogan in his match against Kurt Angle. If you go watch his promo to start the match, you will notice that he was spot on.

Backlash 2000 Trish Stratus Goes Through a Table

When Trish Stratus made her debut in 2000, she was immediately turning heads. Her first role in the company was managing Test and Albert also known as T and A. Leading up to Backlash, Trish teased Bubba Ray Dudley, the man who was notorious for putting women through tables. On Raw and Smackdown, Trish was able to seduce Bubby, preventing him from putting her through a table. But at Backlash, it finally happened, Trish went through a table.

Backlash 2002 Hulkamania Runs Wild One More Time

Who would have thought Hulk Hogan would have been in the WWE in 2002, let alone become WWE Champion. After his match at WrestleMania X-8 with The Rock where the fans cheered him, Hogan proved that Hulkamania was back. But in order to fully be back, he needed the gold. On this night, he defeated Triple H to win his 6th WWE Title.

Backlash 2016 AJ Styles is WWE Champion

AJ Styles joined WWE during the 2016 Royal Rumble. He was the hottest free agent on the market. However, the fact that he was a homegrown "TNA guy" no one believed that he would ever wear the WWE Championship. On this night, he defeated Dean Ambrose and proved to every that you can't hold back someone who is Phenomenal.

Backlash 2017 From 3MB to WWE Champion

When Jinder Mahal was released from the WWE in 2014, he was apart of 3MB, an air band group. When he returned in 2016, he was in better shape. He earned a contract on Raw when he defeated former 3MB teammate, Heath Slater. Mahal was later sent to Smackdown during the Superstar shakeup.  He took advantage of a new opportunity and became the number one contender for the WWE Championship. And at Backlash, he shocked the world defeating Randy Orton to become WWE Champion.
